The Legends Never Die campaign is a fan movement dedicated to getting the Mega Man Legends 3 Prototype Version up on the airwaves where it belongs and proving to Capcom’s executives that yes, there IS an audience for this amazing, quirky series, and that this audience absolutely would have been willing to buy it if they’d had the opportunity.
On April 21st, 2011, Capcom revealed that the Prototype would be appearing as a Nintendo 3DS eShop launch title, and its sales would be the determining factor as to whether or not Mega Man Legends 3 would be completed.
Right before the eShop was set to launch, they recanted their projected release date, giving a very vague reason as to why they’d do such a thing and delaying the product indefinitely.
And then on July 19 (in Japan), the announcement was made that not only had the game’s production been canceled, but the Prototype would never go live. They broke their word, Legends 3 never got a fair shot on the market, and fans everywhere, even in other fanbases, are livid.
In a market flooded with endless gritty, post-apocalyptic shoot-em-ups and brawlers, there is no reason why a cheery, upbeat title in a well-known and beloved franchise shouldn’t get the same sort of love from the upper management. If we all have to prove it to ’em that there’s love for the blue bomber the hard way, then so be it.
The project banner was a collaborative effort between Axlryder, Avegodro, HF, and myself, with additional touch-up assistance from In-Clover and Mikey, all from the Mega Man Legends Station community.
